What sort of person are we looking for?

There is no ideal candidate because everyone is different and has different strengths to offer. Our successful apprentices have actively shown positive attitude and commitment to the apprentice programme.  This means good attendance at their courses; completing their NVQ assignments on time and at the right level and taking pride in their work. We need you to be well organised and willing to communicate clearly as well as showing good IT skills (Excel and Word).  We work with technology and therefore accuracy and attention to detail are essential.  You will be expected to work unsupervised from time to time and so need to be self-motivated with good time management skills.

No previous experience in the field is required.  For technical apprenticeships the ability to demonstrate an interest in vehicles would be advantageous.

The successful applicant is required to possess the following qualifications:

  • GCSE at grade C or above:
    • Mathematics,
    • English,
    • Science
  • technical/engineering apprenticeships you may already have Level 2/3 in automotive, electronic, mechanical or manufacturing engineering.

On the job training will be provided, as well as the college training arranged through the training provider.

Will support will be provided?

When you join Ricardo, we will match you with a departmental supervisor who will support and guide you during your initial career development period with the Company. He/she will formally set and review your objectives, goals and milestones and give you feedback on a regular basis so you know where you are growing.

You will need to achieve the relevant vocational qualifications and, to help you do this, we arrange for a local training provider to work with you to support and mentor you, and to monitor your progress.
